Turner the Menswear Painter

I was recently in Stockholm and visited the Moderna museet where there was an exhibition exploring the later works of Turner, Twombly and Monet. I have to say that I was really struck by the power of Turners work who I think is sometimes thought of as a bit "Old School". His use of ochres, putties, blacks and fresco whites really made me think of current menswear collections from the likes of Burberry, Givenchy and Paul Smith. Turner is in my opinion very " Nu School "

  1. Turners work is timeless and sublime....a huge influence on both the impressionists and beyond. I think he was really the first painter to really move away from entirely figurative and express real mood and feeling through his paint...
